Q: Who can attend the program?
Currently any Franklin County middle school or high school student is eligible to take classes at the Franklin County Christian Learning Center. The only requirement the FCCLC has for taking any course offered is a signed permission form from a parent or guardian.
Q: Who sponsors the program?
The financial resources for this program come from generous individuals, churches, foundations, and businesses. We receive no money from the public school, federal, state, county, or city governments..
Q: How is this program legal?
In 1952 the Supreme Court upheld “Release Time Education” as being constitutional in all 50 states. Justice William O. Douglas, speaking for the majority, concluded that the first amendment prohibits governmental financing of religion or in taking religious instruction, it does not require the government to be hostile toward religion. So in 1952, the United States Supreme court approved “Release Time Education”.
Q: What can I do to help?
You can help us by joining us in prayer, donations, or volunteer time. We need an army of prayer warriors supporting this program. We also rely on donations from individuals, businesses, and churches to sustain our program financially. Please consider donating financially. We also allow for a limited number of volunteers each semester. Volunteers must be cleared by the school system.
